We, the Concerned Citizens of Linden Avenue and local businesses have been negatively impacted by the change in parking due to the construction of the bike track placed on Linden Avenue.  Especially senior citizens and business patrons who park to patronize the small business in this area can no longer do so.

During the DOT neighborhood meetings, we were told a total of 10-15% of parking would be eliminated. However, the impact is much greater. The primary business parking has been completely removed.

  1. Seattle Mobile Espresso - The only community gathering spot in the neighborhood especially catering to seniors. There is now zero parking available in front of this business.
  2. A Leg Up - This medical equipment business caters to immobile individuals seeking mobility equipment. No longer has any parking for their clients.
  3. Linden Hair and NT Nails - Caters to seniors. With no parking, this creates a hardship.
  4. Greenwood Music Studio -  this studio caters to children, Parents cannot find parking or must park a long distance away.

We support the bike, bike trail, bike path, but this trac should not eliminate parking nor make doing business here immposible.

We foresee possible solutions:

  1. Adding parking on the interior of Bitter Lake Community Center as shown in the photo attached.
  2. Remove the hard bike trac and reinstate parking as it was in front of businesses and replace it with a painted bike lane.

Thank you,

Concerned Citizens of Linden Avenue
