Lately, there have been too many silly petitions on this site - children asking for their teachers to give less homework, teens wanting their favorite band to hold a concert in their city. Or, there are adults asking for things that a petition can't possibly help, such as social services to return their child to their custody. How could the signatures of random strangers across the globe - people who don't even know the parent or what the case entails - possibly help convince anyone to return a child to a potentially neglectful or abusive home?
While it's great that Care2 encourages everyone to have a voice and to fight for the causes they believe in, it's also time to step in. Not only is it a waste of time for site members to weed through such petitions, but it's also taking away from Care2's credibility. Please employ even a basic screening in order to make this site more useful and enjoyable for everyone!
