I am starting this petition (and I ask all the people concerned to sign it) in order to force the TracFone Wireless, Inc., a subsidiary of America Movil to stop taking advantage of millions of senior citizens here in America who use its service.
I am a senior citizen myself; and like all other senior citizens, I do not need a regular cell phone, simply because I do not make that many calls that the young people make. All I need is a phone to use in case of emergency; or to call my children every-now-and-then. So, I use a TracFone. But, the problem is that the company which offers this service (1) charges 20-25 cents per minutes (while on regular phones even a long distance calls to many other countries outside the U.S. costs only a few pennies); and (2) whether I call someone else, or someone else calls me (i.e., for both outgoing and incoming calls), the company deducts minutes from my credit. Not only that, but if I even dial one of those toll-free 800 numbers, I will still lose minutes on my TracFone.
I understand the reason for TracFone to charge me for the calls that I make to other people. But, why am I being charged for the calls that I am receiving from others? To me, this is like: A friend of mine writes a letter to me; he puts the required stamp on it and drops it in the mailbox. Then, the post office brings the letter to me and asks me for an equal amount of money to deliver it. What kind of deal is that?!!! Isn’t this strange and unfair? Isn’t this a kind of dishonesty? Isn’t this a rip-off?
I call upon the TracFone Wireless, Inc. to end this unfair business practice and to stop punishing the senior citizens of this country.
