- LIFE AT REGENT PARK 220 OAK STREET-
Adjacent to Regent Park there is a building, owned by T.C.H.C that is not part of the revatilization master plan for all Regent Park. . 220 Oak Street is a building that has experienced an increase number of murders in the last two (2) years. Time and time again Management has denied the installation of C.C.T.V Cameras on floor hallways, citing "privacy laws".
"If there is a Will , There is a Way" Probably they may face some legal precedents but with an "army of lawyers" to their disposal they could very well launch a contitutional challenge for the sake of residenst safaty.
Private Landlords of nearby buildings have been successful at installing C.C.T.V cameras on floor hallways to provide safety for their residents. Why then 220 Oak St can not have the same security and safety as others do? Are we different that others?
Residents at 220 Oak St, are fed up and leaving the building in hordes , some are going to private market, some are putting request for internal transfers to other buildings owned and operated by the T.C.H.C, or giving up altogether any hope that feeling turns into apathy and lack of interest for current residents.
Funding won't be a deterrent since the Federal Government has earmarked 42 Billion dollars to Canadian municipalities under the National Infrastructure Plan for Municipalities. ObviouslyToronto would have a share of the pie and most likely the money will flow to T.C.H.C. for urgent repairs and important projects.
( hopefully any plan to fix the Gardiner would be put back on the back burner again)
