This is a petition requesting that the town council approve adding the 100 block of Dogwood Avenue to the road paving project for 2013. The Town has bugeted to asphalt pave two surrounding roads (Stratford and Forrest), but not Dogwood Avenue. The much needed paving of Stratford Road would solve many environment issues for this much traveled dusty road. But its paving would cut off the dirt-graveled 100 block of Dogwood Avenue, between the two paved roads of Stratford and Riverview.
The residents of the original 100 block of Dogwood Avenue have been paying city taxes for years before the newly proposed Forrest Avenue road and it's residents existed. Forrest Avenue road, approved for paving, is three times longer and almost twice as wide as our proposed road for paving, but not as traveled. Therefore, the cost to add the 1/10th mile length of the 100 block of Dogwood Avenue to the paving would be a minimal amount compared to the current road budgeted.
101-126 Dogwood Avenue has at least three homes with disabled residents. They can not walk on the gravel road on their block. They have been paying additional city taxes on road improvements without representation from the town. Now, the Hamlet Homes Builders have distroyed the graveled road due to heavy equipment to build one single home between extablished homes. The potholes are dangerously deep and frequent. And the cost of constant maintanance would be best spent on asphalt paving the road, while paving Stratford.
This request to pave the 100 block of Dogwood Avenue would improve the environmental hazards caused by the flying dust from qutomobiles traveled on the road. The paving of the 100 block of Dogwood Avenue would allow the residents the freedom to walk on their road without danger of injury from the uneven gravel and potholes. The paving of the 100 block of Dogwood would finally give the residents some fair representation of the taxation we have been paying for years.
