Stop the NBA and Players from Bankrupting Our Cities and Our Residents

Are you suffering because of the NBA lockout?  The players and executives sit around a table fighting over 3% of millions of dollars, while others are fighting to put food on their table.  These ridiculously compensated athletes push to add more to their millions while the cities and their residents that support them drown in debt.  Thousands of blue collar workers depend on the NBA season for their jobs as ushers, food service and ticket takers.  Local restaurants decorate their store fronts with NBA team logos in hopes of fans coming in to view the games.  City governments invest millions of our tax dollars to build stadiums and venues for these players to earn their excessive salaries.  What about the "little people"?  I'm appalled that they can carry this issue out for such an extended time frame without regard for anyone but themselves.

I am located in Orlando and recently saw Dwight Howard make a statement about the reason for the lockout.  He said the current players were fighting for the future NBA stars, not for themselves.   These players have no idea what they are doing to the present situation in their “fight for the future”.  The NBA lockout costs our city $60,000 for each game not played.  Orlando will also lose the 2012 All Star game which will cost the city an estimated 7 million.  My taxes recently went to build a $500 million dollar stadium that the Magic now refuse to play in without a “raise”, along with all other NBA teams.

THERE NEEDS TO BE A LAW IN PLACE THAT IMPOSES A DAILY FINE TO THE PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION AND THE PLAYERS WHEN NEGOTIATIONS INHIBIT THE SEASON.  This money would not only go to the cities but to the businesses and workers that suffer from the inability of these individuals to rectify a stalemate in their negotiations.  This should motivate the two sides to perform more efficiently.

If you agree that the NBA/NFL/MLB organization and players should be fined for interrupting the season with contract negotiation issues, SIGN THIS PETITION.   Residents from every NBA city need to speak up!!  I'm hopeful we can gather signatures from across the country to bring to the local law makers and make a change to help the people!
