Tell Congress: Extend Monthly Pre-Tax Payroll Deduction Cap of $245 for Transit Benefits under ARRA

The Federal Stimulus package known as ARRA had temporarily increased the monthly pre-tax payroll deduction cap for transit benefits to $245.00/month. This provision in ARRA is expiring unless Congress announces otherwise. As such, the pre-tax withholding limit for 2014 will be as follows:

TRANSIT - $130.00

PARKING - $250.00

Effective for January 2014 benefits, any transit order amount over the $130 limit will be designated as post-tax funds and is not eligible for a pre-tax payroll deduction. The post-tax portion of a transit order will be deducted from your payroll on a post-tax basis.
