When foster families "wish upon a star" for their foster children, often the wish is to be able to give the kids what they've never had before. Many families want to take their children to a Disney park but the cost puts it out of reach. Believe it or not, for such a family-oriented company, Disney does not provide any discounts or special offers jusf for foster families. I am hoping to raise awareness and show Disney just how much this means to families.
It's true that FP's get a little money each month for the children they are fostering, but it's not as much as what the cost of having an additional child in the home is. Disney just reported an 8.5% increase in revenue for their parks and resorts, it seems that they could probably offer foster families special rates without hurting their bottom line much.
Let's ask Disney to really support the families who have opened their homes and hearts to some of the neediest, most traumatized children by creating special offers/discounts for them. Families can't wait on a blue fairy forever.
